How to operate the artificial paving concrete at track and field site

Due to the complex layout of the track and field area, which includes numerous curved sections and intersections, it is challenging to operate the asphalt paver in a straight line. Additionally, the site's perimeter restrictions make full utilization of the paver difficult. As a result, the paver often stops and shifts frequently, leaving behind several dead zones that require manual paving. These areas, especially where thickened layers are needed, also demand hand-laid asphalt concrete. In manual paving operations, each shift involves a team of 22 workers, and approximately 100 to 120 tons of asphalt are typically handled. At least 10 skilled workers are required for each operation to ensure quality and efficiency. Before starting, surveyors measure the site using a 5m x 5m grid system. Each flat pile is temporarily stacked with asphalt concrete in a 20cm x 20cm area, with height based on the designed elevation. For small or thickened areas, nails are driven outside the zone, and the designed high-gauge loosening coefficient is marked on the steel nails. The asphalt is transported from dump trucks to the site using carts or small loaders. It is then manually spread over the base layer without using the "Yang Yan" method, as this could cause the mix to scatter or cool too quickly. Once spread, workers use steel rakes to level the surface. If there are high spots, excess material is removed; if there are low areas, additional material is added and leveled using a push-pull technique. The loose paving factor for manual asphalt concrete work ranges from 1.25 to 1.5, while for asphalt macadam, it’s between 1.2 and 1.45. The upper limit is used when the paving is loose, and the lower limit is applied during real-time construction based on field testing. Tools used in manual paving must be kept clean. Any sticky asphalt on the surface should be removed by heating with a fire box. Before each shift, all tools are cleaned thoroughly to maintain efficiency and hygiene. Safety is a top priority during construction. Workers must wear heavy-duty shoes or insulated protective footwear and use gloves at all times. In summer, wearing shorts or slippers is strictly prohibited to prevent injuries and ensure proper protection.
