How to Set Prefix and Suffix on the OCBS-W600 Wireless Barcode Scanner
Wireless barcode scanners are widely used in supermarkets, warehouses, logistics, retail stores, and other industries where fast and accurate data collection is essential. Depending on the specific requirements of your business or customer needs, you may need to add a prefix or suffix to the scanned data. The OCBS-W600 from OCOM is a versatile wireless scanner that allows users to customize the data output by adding these prefixes and suffixes. Here’s how you can set them up.
Adding a Prefix
Step 1: Scan the “Add Prefix†configuration code. This action will clear any previous prefix settings.
Step 2: Scan the character code(s) you want to use as the prefix. You can add up to 32 characters.
For example, if you want to add the prefix "M", scan the character code for "M".
Adding a Suffix
Step 1: Scan the “Add Suffix†configuration code. This will clear any previously set suffix.
Step 2: Scan the character code(s) you wish to use as the suffix. Again, you can add up to 32 characters.
For instance, if you want to add the suffix "%", scan the character code for "%".
After completing the setup, test the scanner by scanning a barcode. The scanned data should now include both the prefix and suffix. For example, if you added "M" as the prefix and "%" as the suffix, the result should be "MTEST%".
This feature is particularly useful when integrating the scanner with software systems that require specific data formats. It ensures that the scanned data is automatically formatted correctly without the need for additional processing.
Always make sure to test the scanner after making any configuration changes to confirm that the prefix and suffix are working as expected. If you encounter any issues, double-check the codes you scanned and ensure they are valid character codes. With this simple setup, the OCBS-W600 becomes even more flexible and powerful for a wide range of applications.
