The Digital Printing Summit Showdown, Future New Trends and New Spaces Are Under Control

On the afternoon of March 11th, the "2015 Summit for Innovative Digital Inkjet Printing Technology Innovation and Development Forum" took place in the M4-02 conference room on the second floor of Hall 3 at the National Convention & Exhibition Center (Shanghai). The event brought together leading companies from around the world in the digital printing industry, including Hewlett-Packard, Kim Heng Fung, Fujifilm, Komax, and Agfa. These industry giants showcased the latest advancements in digital inkjet printing technology and its growing applications in advertising, printing, and packaging. They also shared insights into successful case studies involving digital inkjet and UV flat panel technologies, while discussing future trends, directions, and improvements in the field. Qinchao Hua, Pre-sales and Solution Manager at China Hewlett-Packard Co., Ltd., spoke about the continuous innovation in wide-format digital printing. He introduced HP's GSB Digital Graphic Arts technology, highlighting how it has evolved to meet the demands of modern print applications. Through real-world case studies, he demonstrated how HP’s solutions are being applied across various industries. HP’s comprehensive service portfolio includes a wide range of intellectual property rights, ensuring broad application versatility. The HP Sagittarius FB 10000 industrial press, equipped with High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology, offers an ultra-high-end solution that enhances performance without sacrificing precision. Hewlett-Packard is also focused on expanding its presence in diverse printing methods, from screen to offset and flexo printing, aiming to improve both print quality and productivity. Qin Chaohua provided specific examples of HP’s technology being used by companies like Taiwan Jianhao Printing and Xiamen Hexing Packaging. He emphasized that the main focus of the FB 10000 will be on commercial display racks, large packaging products, and corrugated paper applications. Yan Changning, Vice President of Beijing Jinhengfeng Technology Co., Ltd., discussed the company’s journey in digital development. He outlined Jinhengfeng’s history, R&D capabilities, market reach, and future vision. With over 15% of annual sales invested in R&D, the company is committed to long-term growth despite economic challenges. The establishment of an application center shows Jinhengfeng’s shift toward customer-focused innovation, helping clients expand their market reach through tailored solutions. By collaborating closely with major printhead manufacturers, Jinhengfeng ensures its products remain at the cutting edge of the industry. When discussing the UV equipment market, Yan noted that the global UV digital printing market is valued at approximately $2.9 billion, with China accounting for around $900 million. While Europe and the U.S. still dominate, China is emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets. Jinhengfeng is gaining traction in the UV advertising image printing sector. The company is focusing on outdoor advertising, single-pass packaging printing, and digital textile printing as key areas of application. Chen Wei, Senior Product Manager at Fujifilm, emphasized the company’s role as a technology leader across multiple industries, including photography, printing, storage, and office equipment. Printing accounts for 34% of Fujifilm’s revenue. In large-format printing, UV technology is seen as the future, and Fujifilm is dedicated to delivering cost-effective, high-productivity solutions. He introduced the Onset R40i, a new product launched in 2014, and highlighted Fujifilm’s leadership in UV ink technology. Pang Tiejun, CEO of Ke Mei Printing Development Co., Ltd., presented Konica Minolta’s inkjet technology. He described Kemei Group’s diverse business areas, including commercial systems, digital printing, healthcare, optical instruments, and functional materials. In the inkjet printing sector, Kemei focuses on inks, nozzles, and printers. Their KM series sprinklers have gained significant market share in advertising, while their nozzle design is ideal for variable data printing and three-dimensional object printing. He concluded that inkjet printing is becoming increasingly widespread, with growing potential. However, factors such as nozzle accuracy, droplet size, firing frequency, nozzle lifespan, and cost are becoming more critical. Environmentally, he pointed out that inkjet printing significantly reduces waste and carbon emissions compared to traditional screen printing. Lin Cheng, Deputy Manager of Business Development at Agfa, introduced Agfa’s integrated innovation solutions across six market segments: commercial printing, signage, newspapers, packaging, industrial printing, and security printing. Agfa provides comprehensive solutions, including equipment, print heads, inks, and software, and has installed over 3,000 logo and display systems worldwide. One-sixth of all wide-format digital prints globally use Agfa UV inks. Agfa continues to invest in next-generation print head and ink technologies. Lin explained that Agfa offers a variety of industrial inkjet equipment options, including platform and roll-to-roll formats, with different speeds and layers. Agfa’s UV inkjet inks are widely used in various applications, featuring advanced pigment dispersion, low odor, high efficiency, and compatibility with both traditional and LED curing technologies. This makes Agfa a trusted partner in the digital inkjet printing industry.
