SCALER is inviting you to step into the Chinese language through the experience of "first-time intimate contact" with foreign students in China. This unique journey was highlighted during the 2015 "Chinese Bridge" Global Foreigners' Chinese Conference in Guizhou, where CCTV's summer drama series "The First Close Touch" offered a glimpse into the lives of international students immersed in Chinese culture. Before the event officially began, sixteen stylish and energetic international students, dressed in Scarlett’s spring and summer outdoor wear, traveled deep into Xiacing Village, located in Anlong County, Guizhou Province. There, they lived, worked, studied, and played alongside the children of Mao Lawn Primary School, experiencing the real life of kids in remote mountainous regions of China.
Since then, the "first intimate contact" between Chinese students and foreign learners has officially begun. As the director general stated, “This is a program that looks at the earth and walks with foreigners across China.†The show aims to bring together young international students learning Chinese, offering them opportunities to engage closely with Chinese culture. It creates a platform for mutual learning and cultural exchange, showcasing their language skills and personal experiences with China. Through this, the program seeks to spark global interest in learning Chinese and deepen understanding of Chinese culture.
Scarlett, a leading national outdoor brand in China, has always focused on making outdoor activities more accessible and enjoyable. Their collaboration with the program team reflects their commitment to promoting Chinese culture and outdoor lifestyle. By providing professional outdoor clothing and gear, Scarlett hopes to help international students better understand and experience China. This partnership follows their previous collaboration with Tianjin TV on the outdoor science expedition "Mystery," marking another step in their efforts to promote the outdoor industry in China.
As the founder and general manager of Scarlett, Zeng Hua said, “Culture has no borders, and neither does the outdoors. We hope this program will bring together international students from all over the world, showcasing the healthy and vibrant side of China’s outdoor industry. At the same time, it will allow the world to get closer to China and its culture.â€
The program is set to air on CCTV-4’s weekend prime time this summer, hosted by Lu Jian, a well-known anchor from the CCTV Chinese International Channel. Having previously hosted shows like “China News,†“News 60,†and “Financial Times News,†Lu Jian will be seen in a new light as he steps away from his usual news anchors’ image. This will be his first appearance in an outdoor reality show, where he will offer a fresh perspective and valuable insights to the audience.
