Introducing The Prepared: Why we exist and how we’ll help you get ready for anything
Hello there! We're The Prepared, and this is our story about how we're redefining emergency preparedness to make it more accessible, reliable, and practical for everyone. The Prepared is your go-to resource for the best gear, skills, and plans that help people prepare for emergencies quickly and effectively. We're a team of experts who care deeply about the details and only offer recommendations that are well-researched, thoroughly tested, and free from bias or hype. We obsess over every recommendation so you don’t have to—because getting it right could mean the difference between safety and danger. We’re not your typical prepper site. You won’t find loud ads, insults, political rants, random lists of useless items, or misleading information that makes you less prepared than when you started. We believe in clarity, honesty, and real value. If you share our vision, welcome aboard! We take our time crafting each post, which means we don’t flood your inbox with daily content. This site is built for you, and we want to hear from you. Share your thoughts, ideas, or questions—we’re all in this together. Common sense prepping, straight to your inbox. Join our free newsletter for fresh articles, tips, and exclusive giveaways. 1-2 emails a month. No spam, just value. Back in 2007–2017, prepping was largely seen as a niche interest, often associated with rural communities and conservative groups. Many were reacting to the 2008 financial crash and the political climate that followed. That’s okay—those early adopters helped build a strong foundation for the community. Thanks to them, we’ve come a long way. But now, prepping is no longer just for a select few. People from all walks of life—urban and rural, young and old, liberals and conservatives—are realizing that being self-sufficient and ready for emergencies is the smartest way to live in today’s unpredictable world. Our team has spent thousands of hours preparing ourselves and our families. We’re active in our local communities, teaching essential skills like firearms handling, indoor gardening, canning, first aid, and outdoor survival. We’ve worked with military survival instructors, urban fire and rescue professionals, and even former advisors to the Department of Defense and White House on emergency technologies. Our expertise comes from real experience, not just theory. Unfortunately, there's a lot of bad, confusing, and misleading information out there. It's hard to know what's true, what's useful, and what's just noise. That’s why many people feel overwhelmed or discouraged from getting involved. For example, if you're thinking about buying your first firearm, you might end up lost in endless debates about "stopping power" or whether a pump shotgun will scare intruders with its "click-clack" sound (spoiler: it won’t). That’s not helpful. We believe in clear, accurate, and trustworthy content. Every article is created after extensive research, field testing, and consultation with experts and survivors. You’ll see real names, faces, and voices behind the advice we give. We stand by our recommendations because we believe in doing what’s right—not what’s easy or profitable.
