New technology for offset stamp printing

The "Tal Si Temple" stamp, issued on May 5, 2000, is a colorful and delicate layer and is considered to be a set of special stamps with superior holding capacity. Using a magnifying glass to carefully observe the "Tar Temple" stamp, the intuitive feeling is that the details of each set of stamps are very clear, accurate, complete, and particularly strong in three-dimensional. Take the “Dajinwadian” in Figure 2 as an example. The gold decorations on the roof glitter, the shadows and colors of the wood carvings and columns in the shadows under the eaves, and the columns are vivid. The wooden patterns of the doors and windows below the large roof can be clearly visible even on the dark side, and the green glazed tiles at the bottom are more likeable. Although the other three maps of this set of stamps are not as rich and colorful as the “Dajinwadian” in the image structure, the prints are of the same detail. Delicateness like this is difficult to achieve with conventional offset printing technology. The printing of stamps on the Ta'er Temple is based on the new technique of direct thermal plate making by the FM network and is the first application of such a new technique for Chinese offset stamps.

The most prominent differences between offset thermal network direct thermal plate method and conventional offset printing method are the following:

1. Using inconsecutive FM screening technology (Staccato FM screening), the dots that are lasered out are square, with clear and precise features. The fineness of this set of stamps is 25 micrometers, equivalent to about 350-400 lines/inch for conventional offset dots.

2. A 4-color printing plate is directly imaged on a thermal platemaking machine (1 plate per color, 4 plates into 4 plates). The traditional offset plate making, first on the electronic color machine to make 4 negative film version, from the negative film version into a positive film version, and then the positive film version to the PS version made of 4 plates. Because in the production process, each copy has always lost some levels, so after the sun to the PS version has lost a lot of levels; and direct imaging plate (the current version of the material is Kodak direct imaging thermal plate), in There is no loss at the level, so the colors and levels of the original can be printed accurately and completely.

3, because the FM network thermal direct plate making technology printing quality, color, level can exceed the quality of conventional offset printing, and its entire batch printing quality is relatively stable, the product pass rate has greatly improved, the printing process and quality inspection process for Labor and labor are saved, and production efficiency is greatly improved. Therefore, the application of this new technology, although it requires a new investment in platemaking, seems to increase the cost, but due to the improvement of product quality, the pass rate is increased, paper and ink are saved, and the increase in production efficiency also saves manpower and man hours. Its overall cost is actually a decrease rather than an increase.

4. The network of FM network technology is the overlap of inconsistent square micro-points. It is a product of high technology and it is difficult to fake. It has a security effect in itself. Not to mention there are other anti-counterfeiting measures.

By the way, I would like to talk a bit about the original design of the Ta'er Temple. This set of stamps uses color photographs to design the artwork. The designer ignores the arrangement of the text in order to display the full-color photo on the stamp sheet. As two elements of the three major elements of the stamp: the arrangement of the country's inscriptions and denominations. The position of “China Post China” in the stamps is somewhat inappropriate. The first, third, and fourth figures are all placed on the lower part of the screen and interfere with the details of the lower part of the screen, affecting the integrity of the picture, and the words “China Post China” It also appears that the disorder is incomplete; while the “China Post China” in Figure 2 is hidden in the trees, which is not obvious. Regarding the position of the denomination, the denominations of the four stamps were all placed in the sky. There should be no problem. However, due to the poor thickness and brightness of the offset ink, the denominations of the stamps Nos. 3 and 4 appear to be indifferent. It would be better to use dark grey prints, which would seem more real and obvious.
