Hello, lovely readers! Spring is here, and I’m excited to share some gardening tips throughout the season—and beyond. I’ve been thinking about what might be most helpful to you, and I’ll be sharing articles and resources that I’ve found truly useful.

There are so many great articles and videos online, and I don’t want to repeat what’s already out there. Instead, I’m curating my favorite links and encouraging you to explore further if you’re interested in learning more.

To get started, it's time to prepare your plant beds, containers, and raised garden beds for spring. But this article reminds us to be careful when cleaning up yard debris—because that mess could actually be a safe haven for pollinators. It was something I didn’t know before, but now I'm making sure to be mindful of the little creatures that help our gardens thrive.

If you're curious, I highly recommend checking out this article from the Monarch Joint Venture. There’s so much to learn, and I encourage you to dig deeper into the world of pollinators and how we can support them.

A few tips for a safe and smooth start:

  • Involve family, friends, neighbors, or even kids in the process. Gardening is more fun with others!
  • Break your tasks into manageable projects. Don’t try to do everything at once.
  • Clear your workspace and keep a clean path to avoid tripping or getting stuck.
  • Wear gloves—especially if you have sensitive hands. I use long “rose” gloves, like these.
  • Use a reacher tool instead of bending or stretching your body. It’s easier on your back and joints.
  • Consider using an aluminum frame walker (I bought mine at a thrift store for just $4) with a tray to keep tools and supplies close by.
  • Disinfect old pots and tools with undiluted Lysol or 70% isopropyl alcohol. You can also use a 10% bleach solution (9 parts water, 1 part bleach), but be cautious—it can stain clothes and damage tools if not rinsed thoroughly.
